Hakeem ‘Mean’ Dawodu vs Zubaira ‘Warrior’ Tukhugov
Muay Thai specialist Dawodu will be using his efficient technique against the wild technique of Tukhugov. Firing shots down the centre line with elbows, kicks and knees opposed to the reckless aggression of Tukhugov. But don’t be fooled, the ‘warrior’ knows exactly what he is doing and is a high level wrestler with a Master of Sport level Sambo game. His mixing up of a potential overhand right and strong takedown may leave Dawodu guessing.
Tukhugov’s ability to erratically mix his game up would put him as our pick in this bout.
Ketlen ‘Fenomeno’ Vieira vs Sijara ‘Sarj’ Eubanks
Ketlen Vieira will be looking to walk down Sijara Eubanks in this women’s bantamweight fight. The Brazilians clinch game and height advantage would make a clinch battle with Eubanks a wise decision. However, the last time Vieira face a high level boxer, Irene Aldana, she was knocked out. But it should be said that Eubanks has struggled with her conditioning in her recent fights.
The fight suits Vieira more than it does Eubanks, but the Jiu Jitsu black belt and boxing pedigree of Eubanks would give her the opportunity to be the one to finish the fight, via punches or submission.
Kai ‘Don’t Blink’ Kara-France vs Brandon ‘Raw Dawg’ Royval
Kara-France trains out of city kickboxing with Israel Adesanya and Dan Hooker so a high level technical striker is always expected to turn up. His volume and precision striking makes him dangerous against the brawling Royval. Royval will be looking to utilize his grappling and ground and pound, the only concern is if he has the credentials to take down Kai.
This one seems a straight forward pick and an opportunity for Kara-France to show what he can do on a big UFC PPV event. A win would propel him into being a top 5 contender in the featherweight division.
Dominic ‘The Devastator’ Reyes vs Jan ‘John’ Blachowicz
Jan Blachowicz looked as powerful as ever in his last fight against Corey Anderson whilst Dominic Reyes, in some peoples view, beat the greatest UFC fighter of all time, Jon Jones. This fight is set up to be high quality and even higher stakes as the two light heavyweights battle for the vacant title after Jon Jones’ move to heavyweight.
Jan Blochowicz will be looking to close the distance and nullify the power of Dominic Reyes’ right hand. Potentially engaging in a similar clinch game that saw him win a decision against Ronaldo Souza last November. Jan also has the ability to knock people out. His recent knockout of Corey Anderson with a short right hook was a fantastic showcase of his vicious power.
Dominic Reyes has serious star potential. Huge punching power and athleticism make him lethal in the light heavyweight division. He knocked out Chris Weidman with ease before taking a decision win against Oezdemir and then his close fight with the greatest of all time, Jon Jones. To naerly come out the other end of a fight with Jon Jones the winner says it all. Reyes has the ability to be champion with his speed, power and solid wrestling.
Dominic Reyes would be our pick of this fight as we feel he has the ability to scramble out of a clinch game with Jan Blachowicz whilst simultaneously being too fast for the pole offensively.
Israel ‘The Last Stylebender’ Adesanya vs Paulo ‘The Eraser’ Costa
The bull vs the matador, power vs precision. This fight is setting itself up to be one of the best UFC title fights of all time.
Paulo Costa has devastating power in every punch and kick. He also absorbs damage like nothing has even hit him. In his fight against Yoel Romero, he ate dozens of significant strikes without so much as flinching. Paulo Costa beat Romero in a decision victory after a 3 round war. However, Costa has never faced a striker with the ablity of Adesanya.
Adesanya boasts an impressive resume with victories over Robert Whitaker, Kelvin Gastelum, Yoel Romero and Anderson Silva. His technical striking is, arguably, the best in the UFC with his kickboxing background and experience. To add to this, Israel is extremely dangerous off his back. But, his takedown defence is even more impressive. Meaning that this fight is destined to stay on the feet.
Technically Israel Adesanya is the superior fighter, physically, Paulo Costa has more power and can take damage without flinching. But our pick for this Middleweight title fight will go to Adesanya as we feel he has the technical ability and speed to avoid the power of the ‘Eraser’, Paulo Costa.
